SOME GUIDELINES FOR NEW STUDENTS FIRST COMMING TO UK
1. COLLEGE PREMISES AND YOUR PERSONAL HEALTH & SAFETY WHILE YOU ARE IN THE COLLEGE
Your college premises are fully regulated by the Building Regulation Authority of UK. It is certified by the London Fire Authority for Fire and Workplace Health Connect for healthy study Environment.
In case of Fire -
A. Fire Alarm will automatically set on ringing and you will exit from the building following Fire Exit Routes wherever you stay inside the building even if you are in the Toilet.
B. You will need to muster on to the No. 1 Brick Lane just opposite to the outside of this college building. Stay there until you are advised to come back into the building.
C. Do not come back to take any belongings even if you inadvertently did not take them with you while leaving the premises.
D. Please do not panic. We have a Fire Policy Risk Assessment and trained Fire Fighter to take every step to stop any blazing of Fire.
E. Take your personal safety first without taking any risks.
In case of any minor injuries/accident -
A. Report immediately to the Trained First Aiders Dr. HUR Quadi, Principal or Mr. S C Sarker or Mr.K.O.Faruk
B. We have First Aid Kit which is kept in the reception where you will be able take medication with the help of Trained First Aiders.
C. Do not panic. We have a Health and Safety Policy Statement and Health Risk Assessment. Responsibilities are allocated for enacting.
Of course, we have some hazard areas because of using amenities for our comfort. Caution sign are posted in hazard areas. Therefore, take note of those sign postings and enact according.
COLLEGE IS A SMOKING FREE AREA. SMOKING IN A BAR/CLUB/LIBRARY/CANTEEN AREAS IS A PUNISHABLE OFFENCE
2. HOME OFFICE REGULATION FOR STUDENT
A. You must have to ensure your minimum of 85% class attendances
B. You must have to undergo a minimum of 15 hours classroom based daytime supervised study.
C. You are only allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during session time.
D. Your work provision
E. You are allowed to work up to maximum of 20 hours per week during term time. You will be given pay slips (monthly/weekly) by your employer where your working time and payment will be shown.

3. ACCOMMODATION IN GENERAL
A. The house where you are planning to stay after arrival in the UK, that house need to be safe and healthy according to UK rule.
B.You would need to spend at least £ 40 (average) as rent for a shared accommodation (two persons in a single room) per week. All utility bills are included in the rent.
C. You would need to spend at least £ 12 per week for food.
D. Each and every renting, there is a system of paying two weeks deposit and one week ’s rent in advance. Of course this rule may vary case by case.
E. In the shared house, you will need to take part in cleaning and cooking as per routine agreed with the house mates.
4. ACCOMMODATION WITH HOST FAMILIES
What is a Host Family?
A Homestay accommodation involves the student staying in an English family home, allowing them to live as part of the family and practice English outside of school.

5. REGISTRATION WITH GP (General Practicing Doctor)
You are only allowed to buy medicine from the Dispensary (Pharmacy) on production of prescription from GP. You will get prescription once you have been registered with your local GP. To be registered with GP, the following documents you will need to produce to the GP’s office:
A. Your passport
B. Your proof of address where you are now living.
C. Your student letter from the college.
For your minor cough/headache/ allergy/toothache etc. you will be able to buy some medicine from BOOTs/M&S without producing prescription from the GP.
6. OPENING BANK ACCOUNT
You will need to open a bank account at least for two reasons -
:: You salary will be deposited directly to the bank from your employer.
:: Any money you will need to bring from your country of residence has to be channeled though the account you have in the UK and home.
Approaching to a Bank
You will need to apply first through online. Bank will check your address and send you an application pack.
You can directly meet the concerned bank person and discuss possibility.
Having application pack on your hand along with the following documents you will approach to bank.
You will need;
A. Your passport.
B. A request letter from the college for assisting to open student bank account.
7. YOUR STUDENT OYSTER CARD (TRAVEL CARD)
This college is a registered establishment with the Transport for London (TfL). We will provide you application pack to apply to the Transport for London for your student Oyster photo card. Once it is approved by the TfL, you will be able to travel within London area with 30% subsidized travel costs.
Note that travelling without Oyster card entails a Criminal Conviction
8. YOUR STUDENT ID
College will provide you student ID which is your valid identity as long as you are student of this college.
Always carry your ID with you while travelling or at your work place.
9. YOUR LIBRARAY CARD
You have your college library where you can study, make notes, review literatures for any of thesis or term paper write up. We have plenty of texts and reference books on Business, IT, Law, Travel & Tourism and other allied subjects. College has a policy of lending books to students.
You will have access to digital or Online Library. This information is kept in the College Library. Please ask one of our staff members for any assistance.
You are eligible to access the Borough Council Library where you live. Each and every council has a very rich library. You are entitled to use free internet for a total two hours with 30 minutes slot. To become a library member, you will need to be registered there if you have the following documents;
Passport
Proof of address (Utility bill/bank statement etc.) or
Student letter
10. GOING TO A GYM/FITNESS CLUB/HEALTH CLUB
Having good health is very important for your study and work. Please make a time slot for doing useful exercise in order to maintain your health.

11. COLLEGE’S ENTERTAINMENT FACILITIES

12. ANY EMERGENCY
UK has a very unique safety and security service delivery systems for its people who are legally staying.
For any physical assaults, bullying/harassment, threats, pick pocketing, illness or any other emergency, just press: 999 on your mobile and on reply say where you are, and what has happened to you to the service delivery person (Police/ Hospital staff etc). You can dial 999 only in case of real emergency.

13. NATIONAL INSURANCE (NI)
Any of your work entails Tax and NI contribution from your wage. In most of the cases, employer takes the responsibility to Pay Tax & NI on behalf of its employee. In that case, you need to provide your NI number to your employer.
To book an interview to get your NI number from the Department of Pension and Works (DPW), you will need to produce some documents as evidences in the interview board that you have a possibility of getting work or you have been refused to get a work or you are trying to get a work soon.

Your address proof
Any letters relating to your employment.

14. HOME OFFICE INTERVIEW BOOKING
After completing your first visa period in the UK, you will need to extend your visa from the college. College will extend all sorts of assistances essential for you. Before going to extend your visa, you will have to meet the following requirements;
Completely filled up prescribed application form (FLR(S))
Three months’ bank statements
A college letter explaining your attendances, course circumstances/progresses etc.
Your past exam performances including certificate (where appropriate) and transcript.

15. ADAPTATION AND SOCIALIZATION IN THE UK
